Stirling High School

Here at Stirling High School we celebrated European Day of Languages with all of our S1 classes by taking them off timetable and offering them various language taster courses. We had Italian, German, Spanish, Mandarin and Polish. We also had senior pupils help lead the day.

Pupils then went on to engage in a cultural activity. Some pupils made French sablé biscuits, others painted Chinese characters onto mugs. Our German group made traditional lanterns and our Italian and Spanish groups used paints to make day of the dead masks and Italian pasta mosaics and jewellery.

Our day ended with a "who can build the best Eiffel Tower out of straws" competition and a European themed quiz.

It was a fantastic day which served to highlight and celebrate the cultural diversity within our school. The importance of language learning was a key feature of the day and pupils left thrilled with their EDL experience.
